Yep, ‘The Princess Switch: Switched Again’ Switched Olivia

3

The Princess Switch: Switched Again sees the return of our favorite characters from the original 2018 hit. Of course, there’s Vanessa Hudgens, back as Stacy DeNovo and Lady Margaret Delacourt of Montenaro, who is also taking on a third role, Margaret’s cousin Fiona. We also have Sam Palladio returning as Edward, Nick Sagar back as Kevin, and even Suanne Braun as Mrs. Donatelli. And who could forget little Olivia, Kevin’s daughter?

She’s back too, but she certainly looks a little different. If you ask Kevin, it’s just because a couple of years have passed. When he surprises Margaret at the castle with Olivia, he tells her, “She’s grown up since you last saw her.” While Olivia may be older, there’s another reason why you may not recognize her at first — The Princess Switch 2 switched another character, swapping in a new actress for the role in the sequel.

In the original The Princess SwitchOlivia was played by Alexa Adeosun, an actress who later appeared in 2019’s The Athena. But for the follow-up film, Mia Lloyd takes on the role of Olivia. Before starring in the Netflix movie, Lloyd also had credits in the series Flesh and Blood and The Duchess. While The Princess Switch 2 traded actresses, Olivia is still the same whip-smart, scheming girl who helps her dad find love, and more importantly, avoid any catastrophes.

The switch didn’t slip by Princess Switch fans, who called out Netflix on Twitter, with one writing, “where did the original olivia go?? this is the princess switch, not the sidekick switch.”

Netflix already has plans for a third Princess Switch movie which will begin filming in Scotland next year. While Hudgens has signed on to the project, no plans have been announced yet for who will play Olivia in The Princess Switch 3 — but if Twitter has their way, Netflix will bring back Adeosun, the original Olivia.
