It has been ruled by a Santa Clarita coroner that a contestant on the TBS competition show Wipeout, who died last fall after finishing the obstacle course, had succumbed to a heart attack.

Michael Paredes, 38, was treated by medics on the set of the TBS show on November 18. After on-site medical personnel deemed that his condition was above their heads, he was transported to the hospital where he died the very next day.

The final determination was that Paredes suffered a heart attack from undetected coronary artery disease, according to the report, cited by NBC News. The toxicology report confirmed that Parades had neither drugs nor alcohol in his system at time of death.

According to reports, Paredes had successfully completed two of the Wipeout obstacles before he fell on the third. He then struggled to swim to the side of the pool and had to be lifted out of the water into a wheelchair once he lost consciousness. CPR was performed before his care was transitioned to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital, where he was pronounced dead the following day.

All contestants are required to undergo a medical examination before they are cleared to participate in the show. TBS has yet to comment on the coroner’s findings.
