Warning: be careful what you do when sharing a locker room with Tom Brady.
Brady’s Buccaneers teammate, linebacker Lavonte David, went on the “All Things Covered” podcast with Patrick Peterson and Bryant McFadden, and shared an anecdote on Brady’s determination as the team chases a Super Bowl 2021 championship.
“After we won the NFC championship, me, I’m all happy and s–t, I’m geeked up,” David said. “I guess somebody was crying, and I heard [Brady] say, ‘What the f–k you crying for? We’re not done yet.’”
When pressed on which teammate was the one crying, David claimed he didn’t exactly remember.
“I want to say, I don’t know if it was Chris Godwin, or Jayden Mickens, or somebody,” David said.
Brady is chasing his seventh Super Bowl ring at the age of 43, and his first away from the New England Patriots. Before this season, the Buccaneers hadn’t made the playoffs since 2007, but are in the Super Bowl in Brady’s first year in Tampa Bay.
David made the All-Pro second team in 2020, his ninth NFL season, all with the Buccaneers. His 20 tackles in the playoffs so far are tied for the third-best mark among all players in the postseason.
