Netflix’s We Can Be Heroes may technically be a sequel to The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl in 3-D (2005), but it’s mostly a new story from writer/director Robert Rodriguez about a new generation of superhero kids. No need to fret over the absence of Taylor Lautner as Sharkboy—now played by actor JJ Dashnaw—because Sharkboy hardly has any line, anyhow.
Instead, the main character is a girl named Missy Moreno (YaYa Gosselin), the on-screen daughter of Pedro Pascal, who plays a superhero named Marcus. Unlike her dad, Missy has no superpowers—but that doesn’t stop her from saving the day with her new band of super-friends when her dad is kidnapped by aliens. If all your kids want for Christmas is the new Robert Rodriguez movie on Netflix, here’s everything you need to know about the We Can Be Heroes release date and the We Can Be Heroes release time.
