‘The View’ Hosts Mock Trump for Backing Out of Virtual Debate: “He’s Scared to Debate Joe Biden”

President Donald Trump claims that he’s pulling out of the second presidential debate due to the virtual nature of the event, but the women of The View believe they’ve discovered the real reason for his decision. On Thursday morning, the co-hosts went in on the president, who they insisted is too “scared to debate Joe Biden” after his chaotic appearance last week. “He lost so badly in the last one, and he knows it,” said Joy Behar. “He may not be able to read, but he can count, and the numbers plummeted after that debate.”

This morning, the Commission on Presidential Debates announced that the October 15 debate between President Trump and former VP Joe Biden will be conducted remotely to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Just minutes after the decision was announced, Trump called in to Fox Business, and he insisted that he is “not going to waste [his] time in a virtual debate.” Added the president, “That’s not what debating is all about. You sit behind a computer and do … and then they cut you off whenever they want.”

When it came time to discuss the presidential debate back-and-forth during Hot Topics, the co-hosts didn’t hold back. “What is he talking about?” asked longtime moderator Whoopi Goldberg, after playing an audio clip of Trump’s Fox Business interview. “What’s wrong with you? My goodness. Good god.”

“He’s scared. He’s scared to do another one,” replied Behar. She explained that viewers who tuned in to the first presidential debate “saw how crazy [Trump] is,” particularly when compared to Biden. “Why don’t they just wheel him in in a straight jacket and zap him with an electric shock every time he lies?” said the co-host. “That would be a debate to watch.”

Sunny Hostin agreed that Trump is afraid of dropping further in the polls, as he did after last week’s fiasco. “Trump lost the first debate,” she said. “Listen to that phone call. He sounds congested, he sounds sick, and, quite frankly, we don’t know what the timeline is because the White House won’t confirm when he last tested negative for COVID, but we all know that he is currently carrying a very contagious virus … I don’t think he should get anywhere near Joe Biden.”

“He also said that rather than debate, Whoopi, he was going to hold a rally,” continued Hostin. “Again, showing how reckless and deranged he is behaving. I don’t know if it’s the steroids he’s taking or what, but that’s pretty extreme behavior.”
