For years American Horror Story fans have shouted the same complaint: When can we watch more episodes? Well, your dreams are finally coming true.
In May of 2020 series creator Ryan Murphy announced the existence of American Horror Stories, a spinoff of his beloved FX anthology series that promises to pack even more fear in each of its episodes. Wondering who’s in the cast of American Horror Stories, or when you can expect its premiere date? We have you covered.
What Is American Horror Stories?
FX is about to get a whole lot creepier. We didn’t know it was possible, either! In May American Horror Story creator and executive producer Ryan Murphy announced a new spinoff series known as American Horror Stories. This upcoming anthology series will condense its horror even more than its predecessor. Each hourlong episode will tell a different tale of suspense, torture, and sad outsiders just trying to belong instead of telling those same stories over a season-long arc. Season 1 will have 16 episodes, meaning we have over a dozen more opportunities to be completed scared by Murphy and Brad Falchuck.
Will American Horror Stories Be an American Horror Story Crossover?
At the moment we don’t know. We know that actors from American Horror Story are set to star in this new anthology series. Yet in his most recent post about the series, Murphy mentioned that it would be delving into “horror myths, legends, and lore.” That doesn’t clarify whether those stories will pertain to former American Horror Story characters or just general myths throughout American history.
But there is hope for a crossover. As American Horror Story has continued, the series has become more and more self-referential. Season 8 was fully and unapologetically a crossover of Murder House and Coven, and even 1984 contained a ton of references to former seasons. It’s not too farfetched to think this new season will do the same thing.
Who Will Be in the Cast of American Horror Stories?
Though we know that American Horror Story actors will be coming back for this anthology spinoff, we don’t know exactly who those returning faces will be. Sarah Paulson is set to direct at least one episode of the series, a challenge she first took on with Apocalypse‘s episode “Return to Murder House.” As for everyone else, that remains a mystery.
When Will American Horror Stories Premiere?
That’s another big unknown. All that we know about American Horror Stories on a logistical level is that it’s set to premiere on FX on Hulu.
We also know that Season 10 of American Horror Story is currently in production. It’s likely that this new installment will premiere sometime in late 2021. Based on how Murphy typically releases new series for FX, the first season of American Horror Stories will likely premiere after American Horror Story returns.
